A First-of-Its-Kind Straight-Frame Double-Reed Duck Call
The YOLO Bypass Hybrid Double Reed delivers the deep bark, rich rasp and aggressive attitude of a traditional cutdown—with the added stability and forgiveness of a double reed.
Instead of using a conventional J-frame soundboard and cork wedge, the YOLO Bypass is built around Slayer’s patented Straight Frame Soundboard and innovative O-ring system. This first-of-its-kind design allows the reeds to move naturally, creating realistic mallard sound with exceptional clarity, consistency and responsiveness.
The double-reed construction adds back pressure and requires less precise air control than a single reed. That makes the call easier to run while preserving the hard-hitting, ducky sound serious waterfowl hunters demand.
Whether you’re hunting flooded timber, shallow rice, an open marsh or big water, the YOLO Bypass Double Reed can move smoothly from soft finishing quacks and realistic feeding chatter to raspy barking hens and powerful hail calls.
Legendary Cutdown Sound. More Forgiving Control.
The YOLO Bypass Double Reed captures the low-end bark, rasp and character hunters love in a traditional cutdown call. Its double-reed setup provides greater stability and a more forgiving feel, helping callers produce consistent duck sounds without having to control every bit of air as precisely as they would with a single reed.
It’s an excellent choice for hunters learning to run a cutdown-style call, as well as experienced callers who prefer the added back pressure and control of a double reed.
From top to bottom, the YOLO Bypass Double Reed delivers:
- Deep low-end duck
- Hard, aggressive bark
- Rich mallard rasp
- Soft finishing quacks
- Sharp, realistic feeding chatter
- Smooth transitions between calls
- Powerful long-range hail calls
- Consistent sound with forgiving air control
What Makes the YOLO Bypass Different?
The YOLO Bypass isn’t a traditional J-frame, and it isn’t a conventional cutdown. It’s a hybrid acrylic duck call built around Slayer’s patented Straight Frame Soundboard.
By moving beyond the curved J-frame design, the Straight Frame creates a clean, direct air channel that allows the reeds to perform naturally. The result is the depth and aggressive character of a cutdown combined with the consistency, durability and versatility of a modern acrylic call.
Key Features
- Patented Straight Frame Soundboard: Produces exceptional tonal depth, clarity and consistency without relying on a traditional J-frame design.

- Forgiving Double-Reed Construction: Adds stability and back pressure for easier operation and more consistent sound.
- Cutdown-Inspired Voice: Delivers the deep bark, rich rasp and aggressive mallard attitude hunters want from a cutdown-style call.
- Versatile Performance: Run soft quacks and feeding chatter over the decoys or reach distant birds with loud, raspy hail calls.

- Premium Acrylic Construction: Machined from durable A-grade acrylic for lightweight, weather-resistant performance season after season.
Six Reeds. One Call Tuned Your Way.
Every YOLO Bypass Double Reed comes with six total reeds: one factory-installed dimpled double reed plus five interchangeable tuning reeds.
The additional reeds include:
- 1.370" — 1 dot: Higher pitch with a lighter, quicker response
- 1.375" — 2 dots
- 1.380" — 3 dots: Balanced pitch, rasp and resistance
- 1.385" — 4 dots
- 1.390" — 5 dots: Deeper, raspier and heavier to run
Shorter reeds generally create a higher-pitched sound with less resistance. Longer reeds add deeper tone, heavier rasp and greater resistance.
Slayer’s O-ring system makes it easy to swap reeds in seconds, allowing you to fine-tune the call until its sound and feel match your air presentation and calling style.
Single Reed or Double Reed?
Both versions deliver the signature bark, rasp and range of the YOLO Bypass. The right choice comes down to how you prefer a duck call to feel and respond.
Choose the Double Reed if you want:
- More forgiveness while calling
- Increased back pressure and stability
- Consistent ducky rasp with less precise air control
- Smooth transitions between different vocalizations
- An approachable call for beginners that still satisfies experienced hunters
Choose the Single Reed YOLO Bypass if you want:
- Maximum tonal range and versatility
- More control over pitch, tone and cadence
- Faster transitions and a highly responsive feel
- The ability to manipulate every nuance through precise air presentation
- An open-bore call capable of handling everything you can push through it
How Do I Change the Reeds?
When installing a replacement reed, always make sure the identification dots face up. Each reed has a natural bending direction, and correct placement allows it to seat properly against the tone board and perform as designed.
The O-ring replaces the traditional cork wedge, distributing pressure evenly across the reeds and soundboard while making reed changes faster and easier.
The YOLO Bypass Hybrid Double Reed gives hunters something different: the bark and attitude of a cutdown, the forgiveness of a double reed and Slayer’s patented Straight Frame technology—all in one highly tunable acrylic duck call.
It isn’t a J-frame. It isn’t a traditional cutdown. It’s the YOLO Bypass Double Reed.
