A First-of-Its-Kind Straight-Frame Duck Call

The YOLO Bypass is a single-reed duck call built differently from the ground up. Instead of using a traditional J-frame soundboard and cork wedge, Slayer engineered a proprietary Straight Frame Soundboard paired with an innovative O-ring system.

This first-of-its-kind design combines the deep bark and aggressive character hunters love in a traditional cutdown with the range, consistency and durability of a modern acrylic duck call.

The O-ring distributes pressure evenly across the reed and tone board, allowing the reed to move naturally and produce a rich, realistic mallard sound. It also makes changing reeds remarkably simple. Slide the O-ring off, install your preferred reed and retune your call in seconds—without fighting a traditional cork wedge.

Big Sound Without a Big Air Requirement

The YOLO Bypass features an open-bore, single-reed design that produces serious volume without requiring a tremendous amount of air. It responds well for lighter-air callers while still handling everything an aggressive caller can push through it.

From top to bottom, the YOLO delivers an impressive tonal range:

  • Deep low-end duck
  • Hard, aggressive bark
  • Rich mallard rasp
  • Sharp, staccato feed calls
  • Fast, realistic chatter
  • Clear quacks
  • Higher-pitched whines and squeals
  • Powerful long-range calling volume

Lean into it for a raspy, hard-hitting sound that reaches across open water, or tune it higher for a sharper, more responsive voice. The YOLO gives you the control to build the duck sound you want.

Five Reeds. One Call Tuned Your Way.

Every YOLO Bypass includes five precision-cut reeds, allowing you to adjust the call’s pitch, rasp, resistance and volume.

  • 1.370" — 1 dot: Higher pitch with a lighter, quicker response
  • 1.375" — 2 dots
  • 1.380" — 3 dots: Balanced pitch, rasp and resistance
  • 1.385" — 4 dots
  • 1.390" — 5 dots: Deeper, raspier and heavier to run

Shorter reeds generally produce a higher-pitched sound with less resistance. Longer reeds add deeper tone, heavier rasp and more resistance. Experiment with each reed to find the combination that fits your air presentation and the sound you want in the field.

Why the YOLO Bypass Is Different

  • Proprietary Straight Frame Soundboard: Moves beyond the traditional J-frame design to produce exceptional tonal depth, clarity and range.
  • Innovative O-Ring System: Replaces the conventional cork wedge, distributes pressure evenly and makes reed changes fast and easy.
  • Cutdown-Inspired Sound: Produces the low-end bark, rasp and aggressive mallard character hunters want from a cutdown-style call.
  • Open-Bore Performance: Creates impressive volume without demanding excessive air.
  • Five-Reed Tuning System: Adjust the call’s pitch, rasp and resistance to match your calling style.
  • Versatile Single Reed: Run everything from soft quacks and sharp feed calls to aggressive barking hens and high-volume hail calls.
  • Premium Acrylic Construction: Made from durable A-grade acrylic for reliable, weather-resistant performance season after season.

Changing Your Reed

When installing a reed, make sure the identification dots face up. Each reed has a natural bending direction, and correct placement is important for proper sound and performance.

The YOLO Bypass gives duck hunters something they haven’t had before: the character of a cutdown, the versatility of an acrylic single reed and a straight-frame, O-ring system engineered for easy tuning and unrestricted sound.

It isn’t a J-frame. It isn’t a traditional cutdown. It’s the YOLO Bypass.

What makes the YOLO Bypass duck call different?

The YOLO Bypass features Slayer’s proprietary Straight Frame Soundboard and an O-ring system instead of a traditional J-frame soundboard and cork wedge. This combination creates even pressure across the reed, allows the reed to move naturally and makes changing reeds quick and easy.

What does the YOLO Bypass sound like?

The YOLO Bypass produces deep low-end duck, aggressive bark, natural mallard rasp, sharp feed calls, realistic chatter and clear quacks. It can also be tuned for a higher-pitched whine or squeal.

Is the YOLO Bypass a single-reed or double-reed duck call?

The YOLO Bypass is a single-reed duck call. Its open-bore design provides the tonal range, responsiveness and volume experienced callers expect from a single reed.

Is the YOLO Bypass easy to blow?

Yes. The open-bore design creates strong volume without requiring excessive air. It responds well to callers with less air while still handling aggressive air pressure from more experienced callers.

Can the YOLO Bypass be tuned?

Yes. The YOLO Bypass comes with five reeds ranging from 1.370" to 1.390". Changing the reed lets you adjust the call’s pitch, rasp, resistance and overall sound.

What do the different YOLO Bypass reeds do?

Shorter reeds generally create a higher-pitched sound with less resistance. Longer reeds produce a deeper, raspier sound with greater resistance. Each reed is marked with one to five dots for easy identification.

Does the YOLO Bypass use a cork wedge?

No. The YOLO Bypass uses an O-ring system in place of the traditional cork wedge. This makes reed changes easier while distributing pressure evenly across the reed and soundboard.

Is the YOLO Bypass a cutdown duck call?

The YOLO Bypass is a hybrid single-reed duck call. It captures the deep bark, rasp and aggressive character of a traditional cutdown while providing the consistency, range and durability of an acrylic call.

Where can I use the YOLO Bypass?

Its broad tonal range makes the YOLO Bypass effective in flooded timber, open marshes and other waterfowl hunting environments. It can produce softer close-range duck sounds as well as high-volume calls designed to reach distant birds.
